CEO announcement
After leading the Australian Scholarships Foundation for four and a half years, Samantha Sayers will be leaving her role as CEO.
As a champion for not-for-profit sector capacity building, Sam has led the Australian Scholarships Foundation through a period of significant growth, building strong partnerships across the philanthropic community, private sector, and tertiary education sectors to facilitate high-quality independent research and greater access to education. Over the last four years, Australian Scholarships Foundation has significantly expanded opportunities to access high-quality executive education, to better support the development needs of not-for-profit sector organisations, and their people.
On her departure, Professor Stephen Garton, Chair of the Australian Scholarships Limited, said: “We are a better organisation thanks to Sam’s leadership. She has successfully completed a significant 4-year program of change and consolidation, which has placed the Australian Scholarships Foundation in an impressive position for future growth.
Her commitment and determination in identifying and prioritising the capability development needs of resource-challenged charities, and collaborating with funders and education providers to support this need, has helped support significantly more investment in sector workforce development.”
Sam has worked alongside philanthropic supporters, including the Paul Ramsay Foundation, Perpetual Foundation and Origin Energy Foundation, and education and research partners including Fulbright Australia, Australian Institute of Company Directors and McKinsey & Company to support the sector’s needs.
Sam joins Origin Energy as Head of the Origin Energy Foundation, to continue the Foundation’s work focussed on supporting young Australians and helping to break the cycle of disadvantage through education.
Australian Scholarships Foundation has appointed People for Purpose to begin a competitive search for a new CEO to lead the organisation.
