The Australian Institute of Company Directors Governance Foundations Course has equipped me with a robust governance, strategy, and financial base early in what will hopefully be an extensive Board Director career. Since undertaking the course, I have become aware of what it means to be accountable in my role and have new confidence in approaching previously intimidating and unfamiliar portfolios, such as treasury and risk roles, to gain greater oversight and participate in shared problem-solving. I am extremely grateful to the Australian Scholarships Foundation for supporting young people, especially young women, like myself to be present in high-quality up-skilling spaces which are traditionally inaccessible to us due to cost or perceived inexperience.
