Kaplan Business School supports the Australian Scholarships Foundation initiative to enhance the management and accountability of charitable not-for-profit organisations by partnering with us to offer ten 100% MBA scholarships to not-for-profit staff Australia-wide in 2020.

Program overview

A Master of Business Administration (MBA) is widely regarded as the preferred qualification for professionals wanting to pursue a career in strategic management. An MBA can advance your career, expand your professional network, offer higher earning potential and provide you with the skills you need to lead.

Kaplan Business School’s MBA will provide you with valuable practical skills that will allow you to excel in a dynamic and ever-changing professional environment and to become a successful leader. Benefit from the flexibility and diversity of a general Master of Business Administration or choose one of seven specialisations:

Upon completion of the degree, graduates are able to:

  • Apply knowledge related to fundamental business processes to make effective and well-reasoned business decisions in a global context;
  • Implement strategic thinking to address business issues and opportunities in dynamic environments;
  • Demonstrate the leadership necessary to accomplish business goals and maximise organisational performance;
  • Evaluate the ethical and social implications of business decisions from an international perspective.

Trimester Dates

The Kaplan Business School MBA duration is 2 years, full time (6 trimesters) or part time equivalent. Trimester intakes are in March, July, and November each year.

Successful applicants in this scholarship round will enrol in either Trimester 3, 2020 (beginning Thursday 5 November 2020) or Trimester 1, 2021 (beginning Thursday 11 March 2021).

Study Mode

Successful applicants may study the MBA at any of the 5 campuses of Kaplan Business School, with a full-time or part-time study load, and in either online or face-to-face mode. Students will begin their studies via online delivery but face-to-face delivery will also become available as COVID-19 restrictions ease.

Scholarship Inclusions

There are 10x 100% scholarships available to Australian citizens and permanent residents currently working for an Australian charitable not-for-profit organisation. Each scholarship place is valued at $40,800 and covers the entire tuition fee for the MBA course.

Successful applicants (or their supporting NFP organisation) will be required to cover any additional incidental costs such as books, travel or accommodation if necessary.

Who Should Apply

Senior NFP professionals, managers and emerging leaders Australia-wide.

Preference will be given to those working for NFP organisations significantly impacted by COVID-19.

Eligibility Requirements

Scholarship applicants must:

  • be an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident
  • fulfil ASF’s general eligibility requirements available on our FAQs page
  • currently work for an Australian charitable not-for-profit organisation
  • fulfil the MBA program entry requirements, as detailed below

MBA Entry Requirements:

An Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent)

Please note, if you are shortlisted for this scholarship you will be asked to provide a certified copy of your academic transcripts and certificates.

Selection Criteria:

The scholarships are awarded jointly by ASF and Kaplan Business School to applicants whose completion of the program would, in their view, benefit their employing NFP organisation. Selection is conditional on the applicant meeting the eligibility requirements including KBS’ entry requirements for the nominated program and written endorsement from the respective charitable organisation.

Scholar Surveys & Feedback

All applicants (regardless of the outcome of their application) will be asked to complete a series of surveys about their expected and realised learnings (once before and on a few occasions after the course). Your survey responses will help us to quantify the impact of our scholarships and will help attract funding for education and training for the NFP sector in the future. Your feedback is extremely valuable to the work we do and by completing these surveys you’ll be making an important contribution to the future of ASF and the NFP sector overall.

Application Process

To apply for a scholarship, please complete the following steps:

1. Click ‘APPLY NOW’ below and follow the prompts to create an ASF profile page (or sign into your existing profile)

2. Complete an online ASF scholarship application form and upload an endorsement letter from your NFP organisation (see #12 of our FAQs for guidance)

If you are shortlisted in the first stage, you will be invited to progress to the next stage of the application process which requires you to complete a Kaplan Business School course application form and provide various supporting documents, including academic transcripts, etc. Full instructions will be provided to shortlisted candidates mid- September.
