Brian McDonald has over 25 years leadership experience in finance, strategy consulting and venture development across private , government and not-for-profit sectors.
Holding senior finance and investment roles, Brian has led initiatives for many private and government clients in areas of infrastructure and renewable energy development. For example, he was a director of Sydney Light Rail, led an international consortium in the development of transport and water infrastructure for the Queensland Government, established a venture to provide safe drinking water to regional towns across NSW and Victoria and reformed the education funding allocations and administration for Australia’s third largest school system. As a management consultant, Brian has assisted numerous ventures, from start-ups to major corporates to achieve their objectives.
Brian has a particular interest in deploying effective management practices and financial resources to meet organisations’ broader environmental and social goals in addition to economic objectives.
Brian holds a Master of Science degree in Physical Chemistry from the University of Sydney and an MBA from INSEAD in France. He is also a CPA and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.and provides pro-bono advice on finance and governance to a number of organisations.
Brian assumed the role of Company Secretary for Australian Scholarships Limited in late 2023 and joined the board in early 2024.
