Tessa Boyd-Caine and Andrew Tyndale: On Location in the US

In 2013, ASF had the privilege of awarding a Fulbright Professional Scholarship in Non-Profit Leadership to Dr Tessa Boyd-Caine of ACOSS and Mr Andrew Tyndale of Grace Mutual. Tessa and Andrew were the inaugural winners of the prestigious scholarship, which has continued to run in 2014 and 2015.

With their scholarships, Tessa and Andrew have travelled to New York City and Washington DC to research issues around how non-profit organisations can strengthen and lead the trust and confidence in which this sector is held. They aim to identify processes in the US that could be adapted to better support the Australian NFP sector.

During her four-month stint in the US, Tessa will be sharing her experiences in blog form via Probono Australia’s website. This week she explored how American charities engage in transparency and accountability, and how Australian charities can utilise these techniques.

Andrew Tyndale Andrew has started his own blog where he will be sharing his own personal experiences in the US, the sights he sees and the people he meets along the way. Andrew intends to develop ways to attract commercial funding (primarily pension savings funds) into this sector during his time at The Milken Institute.
