The Australian Scholarships Foundation – ASF  is the only Australian organisation solely focused on funding and facilitating scholarships for Australian not-for-profit (NFP) directors and staff to undertake education, training and mentoring programs that improve their ability to lead and manage their organisations.

ASF is a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) and Australian charity registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ABN 83 420 919 581).

ASF works with a number of universities, education providers and supporters to access and make scholarships available in a growing range of leadership and management training programs. These include postgraduate university diplomas, certificate and degree courses, short management and other training programs and specialised mentoring services. Disciplines covered include leadership, finance, accounting and risk management, board governance, strategic planning, project management, marketing and social networking.

ASF does not provide any education and training programs in its own right, although it works with education providers and private companies to deliver specific programs that meet NFP needs.

Full details, application forms and terms and conditions of current scholarships can be viewed at Open Scholarships and Frequently Asked Questions.

ASF is a proud member of Philanthropy Australia.

ASF Christmas Event

ASF's End of Year Celebration

ASF scholars and advocates, scholarship providers and NFP sector leaders attended ASF’s Christmas event last week in celebration of our fifth year of growth and development. The event was generously hosted by Corrs Chambers Westgarth at their brand new headquarters in Sydney’s CBD.

We were delighted to hear from Corey Payne on the night. Corey is an ASF Scholar, former NRL footballer, 2013 NSW Young Australian of the Year and Founding Executive Chairman of the Future Direction Network (FDN), which aims to raise the level of university participation rates amongst students from low SES backgrounds.

In 2012, Corey was awarded a prestigious Churchill Fellowship that enabled him to travel to Brazil, Spain, the UK and South Africa this year to research programs that help disadvantaged kids further their education. His experiences gave him an informed understanding of culturally diverse ambition and aspiration building programs that could be employed in Australia upon his return.

Corey shared with us his insights about the future of the not-for-profit sector and the importance of measuring the work of NFP organisations in order to better sustain and increase their impact on the community going forward.

ASF would like to offer our thanks to Corey for sharing his experiences, and to everyone who showed their support of ASF and the NFP sector at the event. We look forward to another year working to support and develop the not-for-profit sector with scholarship and training opportunities.
